Abstract
In general, low back pain arising from within the spinal column comes from intervertebral discs, lumbar facet articulations or other paravertebral structures. However, low back pain patients may also have symptoms caused by something other than mechanical, radicular or discogenic spinal problems. Differential diagnosis includes endocrine or metabolic disorders, rheumatic diseases, infections, neoplasms, hematological abnormalities, referred pain and related neurological problems. These problems, which are non-mechanical, non-radicular or non-discogenic pathogenesis caused low back pain, require systemic disease oriented treatment or special care; therefore, proper and accurate evaluation is necessary. The foundation of this method is careful clinical assessment, history taking, physical examination, and radiological investigation.
